This is a collaboration piece I did with Dan Hazelton. Dan is a really amazing tattoo artist from Wisconsin, check him out.

His website: [link]
DA page:
:icondanhazeltondotcom:

I've been meaning to do a collab with Dan for a long time now but tools and time didn't allow. He hit me up for a collab years ago but the only digital painting programs I was really familiar with or could use were oekaki applets.

But, a few months back, Dan hit me up on Facebook and we finally got around to doing a collab. I think our styles work together nicely and I look forward to doing more with him.

BTW, if anyone wants to finish a collab with me that we've started, hit me up. I've lost a few of them after a computer crash a while back, so we may need to use older copies or start a new one (I know, I should have backed up my hard drive but I like to learn things the hard way :] )

Photoshop + SAI painting.

This looks sick, man i love the perspective-ness.
Especially how detailed it gets, then moves quickly into the abyss. Haha, really diggin all your art actually.
Good job.

Ps. for the parts where its looks staggered, like the lines+shapes repeat, is that an effect of do you paint it all?

MADICAL!

How did the process go for this collab? Did you ping-pong it back and forth or what?

This has got the most intense feel. I think its all the wonderful color but whatever it is, it feels like you could just reach right into it. The sense of depth is really impressive. And the lighting. WOW. really gorgeous.

Ha, somewhat, most of the smaller details are Dan's handy-work. But after doing this piece with Dan, I see that I can get more detailed without it looking too illustrative or commercial. I want to keep my work looking like digital -paintings- opposed to digital art, yanno what I mean?

Yeah, and that too of course x)

I will try it someday. Right now I'm too busy swimming in my own angst, however, and you're to blame. I have no idea how old you are etc, but I really admire the time and creativity you put into your pieces (even though this was a collab). One day -one fucking day- I'll become a good artist too. Until then, I'll just keep on feeding off of my angst >_> Keep doing your thing man, you have tons of admiration coming from this direction.

Glad you're enjoying the work.

Keep drawing, you'll get better if you really -want- to.

Don't do LSD (or anything like it) until you've thoroughly researched the drug, it's not for everyone. In fact, I think it's safe to say most of contemporary-minded society would not react positively to LSD as it permanently opens parts of the mind that most people ignore or forget.

However, for me, LSD and psychedelics have greatly influenced my art, my understanding of the world and my life in general. As well, doing psychedelics has come with a bit a of sacrifice, most of which consists of me letting go of social norms and popular customs (e.g. some would describe me as a borderline sociopath).

I am, I am.

I hope so. I have really been seeing improvements in my work, it's just that my lack of patience gets the better of me. I don't get there fast enough.

I have researched it. The mere reason why I WANT to do it is to open up parts of my brain and behold what parts of my psyche I have yet to encounter. And believe me when I say, I am not contemporary-minded nor a voluntary part of society. I hate it when people think too highly of themselves (like most people, actually), but this one thing I stick to. Now please, I'm not the kind of guy who "hates the norm" just to feel more unique. I simply realized that everything humans believe to be true are based on illusions. I am a nihilist in the sense that I do not believe in morals and I know that what I do in life will never matter. Nothing does. I have come to accept hypocrisy as a natural part of the human mind (otherwise egoism wouldn't work, which is something that is a fundamental part of humanity)and I have discovered that this Society is insane. Not me, society. If LSD brings me a bad trip, then sure. I'm not going to live my life being afraid of trying everything I want to in this world just because someone else says "no-no" and points to a book of rules they choose to follow like drones. I fucked the norm over when I decided to smoke weed. (which may not sound extreme at all to you, but here in sweden, it's much more frowned upon and even more illegal than in the US. Mostly because people have no education whatsoever about drugs over here, which makes them afraid as hell. If it ain't alcohol that gets you gigglin' you're officially a class A junkie. It sucks.)

holy shit that was a mouthful. the worst part is, now that I re-read it, it sounded like me trying really hard to brag about how special I am. This is not the case, I just don't get to talk about society in a (truly) criticizing way very often, nor do I get to voice my true opinions and viewpoints very often. Not many people actually share my thoughts on a personal, intimate level. For most people it's more often than not just an identity that gets swapped for something else next week. Everything is consumed, digested and regurgitated... Haha, I have sooo much more I'd like to talk about, but I fear it will just end up with me spewing my thoughts over someone that ain't even that interested x)Besides, if I take everything in one go, it will just be incomprehensible.

Ahem, back on track.

That's what I hope will happen to me too. I'm on the same path of self-discovery (and world-discovery, for that part), but without the psychedelics. Hopefully it will help me advance further.

(Have you read "The Psychopath's Bible"? Corny title aside, it's a decent book with some interesting ideas. You should look it up.)

Well then, lol... I think you're ready mentally (I can't say that for sure but who can?). I would make sure you get some stuff that is pure or at least product that you're not allergic to and make sure you know your dealer. And if it's really good stuff, send me some. :]

The Psychopath's Bible? I haven't read it but that sounds great. :P
